Welcome to the Virtual Db2 user group
The Virtual Db2 user group is an independently-operated vendor-neutral site run by and for the mainframe Db2 user community.
This is a mainframe Db2 information website, not in any way related to, sponsored, or approved by IBM, which is the legitimate owner of the trademark, and any use of the mark in the URL or the body of the site is for information, education, and opinion expression purposes.
The Virtual Db2 user group was established as a way for individuals using IBM's Db2 for z/OS database to exchange information, learn new techniques, and advance their skills with the product.
This Web site provides a central point for coordinating periodic meetings (which contain technically-oriented topics presented in a webinar format), and provides articles, discussions, links, and other resources of interest to IBM Db2 practitioners. Anyone with an interest in Db2 for z/OS is welcome to join the Virtual Db2 user group and share in the knowledge exchange.
The Virtual Db2 user group is free to its members.
We are pleased that Planet Mainframe is able to help us maintain the independence and existence of this group.
Sponsorship opportunity »
We are looking for additional co-sponsors for the Virtual Db2 user group.
The user group has been in existence since 2022 and is gaining respect among users of Db2. The user group gives its sponsors an opportunity to show that they are working with, and helping to build, the Db2 user community.
The user group will meet six times a year with a presentation filling most of the meeting. In the other months, members receive a newsletter. And there is a Facebook page, a Twitter feed, and a LinkedIn group keeping members up-to-date with information about new products or product updates, and articles about Db2.
If you work for a software vendor and can see the benefits of sponsorship, please contact me (email@example.com).
28 March 2023, 10:30am Central Standard Time
At the next virtual user group meeting, Chad Reiber, Principal Software Consultant, BMC Software, will discuss "Db2 z/OS Recovery – How Best Practices Have Changed to Address New Threats".
We use Zoom for our meetings.
The meetings take place at 10:30am CST (which 16:30 GMT), and 10:30 CDT (which is 15:30 GMT) during Daylight Saving Time. Because Summer Time and Daylight Saving Time start and end dates differ in different countries, take care to get online for the meeting at the correct local time!
